Autumn Weather in Paris Texas

Weather in Paris Texas is fairly moderate all year round, but there are slightly seasonal variations.  As we approach autumn here in Paris the weather will begin to change over from sultry and hot to soothing and warm.  There will be some rainy days mixed with the sunny to produce some fall coolness to the atmosphere.  Leaves will begin to sense that it’s time to shed and allow the slightly cooler temperatures to kick start their fall metamorphosis.  Harvesting will be conducted with attention and care to the weather, and local farmers will grace us all with the sweet smells of last cut hay baling.  Fall provides Paris Texas with its most agreeable weather.Children dressed in Batman & Robin costumes, 1966Image via Wikipedia

The weather in Paris Texas has been described as being similar to that of Atlanta, Georgia, but most locals would take umbrage to that.  While we do have more humidity than the hill country we’re still not as hot and humid as Atlanta.  Our “falls” are moderate and even, with temperatures averaging in the seventies.  Kids love the fact that they aren’t forced to wear heavy winter coats over Halloween costumes as they would in some of those “northern” states.  In fact, there really isn’t anything bad to say about the weather here—especially in the fall.
Tourism in most parts of the country are big in spring and fall because of the weather.  Considering that our fall weather is milder and kinder than most we see a lot more curious historians and niche shoppers during the fall months.

If you happen to visit, Paris during the fall you will be pleased to know that you came at the right time.  You just won’t find a better season of weather in Paris Texas.

Things to Do in Paris Texas

Things to do in Paris Texas are really dependent upon what activities you are interested in to begin with.  Are you an outdoors person? Do you like to shop?  Are you a “foodie”, or maybe you have a hankering for the theater?  Are festivals your thing?  Do you like to study history?  Truly there are so many things to do in Paris Texas that it is almost more advantageous to talk about what you can’t do while you’re staying here.  Paris goes against the Texas motto: everything’s bigger in Texas!  We have everything a larger city has, just in a smaller package.  So, while you aren’t apt to see a full-scale production of Broadway’s The Lion King you could find yourself on the front row of a Tennessee Williams play.

Paris Texas has many cultural events and venues.  For the art lovers there are a plethora of galleries in the historic downtown district, and the Paris Community Theater is a beloved staple in our town.  The theater company has produced everything from Shakespeare to Chicago, and continues to impress locals and visitors alike.  The art galleries and antique shops are a point of interest not just for visitors staying in Paris, but also for Texans and as far south as the Dallas-Ft Worth area.  Paris has seasonal street festivals that bring in visitors from all across the region.

As far as outdoors activities, many cycling enthusiasts drop by during the Paris Texas version of the Tour de France, called the Tour de Paris, and our summer months see a plethora of fishing fans who come to take their chances at catching a large mouth bass, blue or channel cat.  If you are looking for outdoors things to do in Paris Texas then you absolutely have to visit our parks.

Again, this is just a short version of activities that people can get involved in while staying in Paris.  Your best bet is to ask the locals about fun things to do in Paris Texas.

Restaurants in Paris Texas: Good Food, Cheap Prices

Restaurants in Paris Texas are known for being economical and tasty at the same time.  The Chambers of Commerce and Board of Supervisors are working to bring in more “modern” fare—especially in the more upscale “loft” areas of the city’s downtown area.  You will find specialty bakeries, coffee shops, and bistro-style restaurants in the “loft” district for those with more cosmopolitan tastes.  Still, the prices are reasonable in comparison with those of the Dallas-Ft. Worth region to the south.  In general, however, local tastes demand “home cookin’” style of fare, and that is what you will find in abundance at the restaurants in Paris Texas.
